In the summer of last year, Dr. Tahir Khan, a UK-based doctor and passionate adventurer, set out on a life-changing expedition — a 12-day trek to the base camp of K2, the second-highest mountain in the world. The journey covered an astonishing 200 kilometres of rugged terrain and involved a total elevation gain of 2,100 metres (6,900 ft), taking him through some of Pakistan's most breathtaking yet demanding landscapes.
But this was not just an adventure of endurance — it was a journey of purpose.

Beyond my love for mountains and this beautiful region of Pakistan, I wanted to challenge myself to make a positive impact on education for the poorest children."— Dr. Tahir Khan

Driven by his passion for the mountains and a strong commitment to social impact, Dr. Tahir dedicated his K2 expedition to supporting children's education in Pakistan’s underserved communities. His journey carried a message of hope.

Through this inspiring campaign, Dr. Tahir successfully raised £3,200 for the Nayi Uraan Foundation, helping provide free education, nutritious meals, and emotional support for children living in Lahore’s slum communities.

The 12-day trek tested both physical strength and mental endurance, with icy rivers, glaciers, and high-altitude trails along the route. Every step symbolised hope for children dreaming of a brighter future through education.

"Every person who joins — whether riding, sponsoring, or simply believing — becomes part of a global family fighting for education equity. That's the power of purpose on two wheels." — Muzamil Tahir, Trustee
Imagine cycling 54 miles through the English countryside — not for personal achievement, but to transform a child's life in a distant land. This is the journey Muzamil Tahir, a trusted voice in the Nayi Uraan Foundation, takes every year.
For 2025, Muzamil returns with renewed passion, inviting riders, supporters, and advocates across the UK and Pakistan diaspora to join a growing movement. "The ride isn't about winning," he says. "It's about showing children in Lahore's slums that the world sees them, values them, and is pedalling toward their dreams."

When Sarim Bilal was just 10 years old, he took on a challenge that many adults would find daunting — running the London Mini Marathon to raise funds for children's education in Pakistan. On 20 April last year, with unwavering determination and a bright smile, Sarim completed the race and proudly raised £530 in support of the Nayi Uraan Foundation — a charity dedicated to providing free education, daily meals, and healthcare to children living in the slums of Lahore and Gilgit Baltistan.
“Even small steps can make a big impact when taken with purpose.”

Now 12 years old and studying in Year 8 in London, Sarim continues to inspire everyone around him. His effort reminds us that compassion and courage have no age limit — and that even the smallest steps can help change lives.
At Nayi Uraan Foundation, we are proud of young changemakers like Sarim who use their energy and passion to bring hope to others. His story shows that every act of kindness, no matter how small, helps build a brighter future for children in need.
“I wish that all children could have access to health and education like I do — that’s why I wanted to dedicate my run to support the foundation.”
